SEO Daily links: Multiple XML Sitemaps, QR codes, RichSnippets
Learning of the day: A few days ago I was struggling with redirecting a whole directory to a single page using the RedirectMatch command. I was told I should use what works on our server, which meant RewriteRule. I found the solution today:
RewriteRule ^oldsite/(.*)$ http://www.example.com/ [R=301,L]
New fun tool of the day: I got my Spotify account today and started to listen to music using it. So far didn’t find most of the obscure music I like, but great for classical. Couperin and Glass on the top of my current list.
And now onto today’s SEO links with my comments in italics:
- Kate Morris proved that multiple XML Sitemaps can improve ranking
Complicated and worth only for large sites, but if it improves ranking it worths the effort. - Jesse Avshalomov built a portable SEO browser and hared how to do it.
Even if I won’t replicate it, I still pick the list of tools he integrated. - Chris Silver Smith shares ideas why QR Codes are not so exciting for local marketing.
I’ve been thinking about implementing QR codes and this article narrows the circle where it makes sense. - Chris Liversidge explained how to use RichSnipets to improve CTRs.
Seeing this gave me the impetus to start learning schema.org, which wa son my todolist anyway.
